Sage is a perennial plant with greyish leaves. The herb does not die above ground in the winter, the leaves even stay on the plant. The flower stems, however, gain more wood every year. Therefore, it is a good idea to cut off a large part of the plant after flowering, around the end of June. The sage will then form beautiful new leaves and remain compact.

Using spent flowers
After cutting, you can bind the spent flowers together with a rubber band. Let this bunch of sage dry upside down in a well-ventilated place in your home. The dried leaves can then be used in sauces and meat dishes. Be careful with them, because the taste of sage is quite dominant.
